10 days dedicated to space conquest
From the 12th to the 21st of July 2019, the fantastic Planetarium of Vaulx-en-Velin will be celebrating this major event in fitting style.
On the 16th of July 1969, the American space mission Apollo 11 began. On board the Saturn V rocket were Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.
Four days later, on the 20th of July, they were the first three men to walk on the Moon. They collected nearly 22 kilograms of rocks from the ground of our satellite and installed scientific instruments on its surface during the 20 hours they spent there. This unprecedented and totally breathtaking exploit was broadcast live on televisions around the world.
The emotion is still fresh in the minds of all those who had the chance to experience the event. This year will be its 50th anniversary. Where better to celebrate these moments of genius than the Vaulx-en-Velin Planetarium? Here's an early selection of some of the events that will be held at this centre that explores the sky, the stars, space conquest and the origins of the universe.
