Parc de la Tête d'Or entrée boulevard Stalingrad - 69006 Lyon 6ème
It’s game, set and match at Tête d’Or Park from the 19th to the 26th of May 2018. Get your Panama hats out (it’s not Roland Garros, admittedly, but that’s no reason not to get into the spirit), because this fantastic tournament is returning to the park’s main clay court!
Here are a couple of key figures to start with: Open Parc is France’s 2nd biggest outdoor tennis tournament after Roland-Garros, and it attracted 30,000 spectators over the course of a week in 2017.
Now let’s move from facts to the poetry of the sport…This magnificent event will once again be held in the beautiful green setting of Tête d’Or Park. Fresh air, a historic venue, and a fierce determination to create a top-quality sports event: all of the ingredients for an exceptional tournament are there. We should not forget to mention the superb professionalism of the organisers, who will create a main court with more than 4,500 seats in the heart of the park (which is no small feat!)
Here’s a quick overview of the main players in 2018:
Dominic Thiem: with a powerful, “topspin” forehand, this player also boasts an impressive one-handed backhand, which is all too rare in the sport today. Currently ranked No.4 in the world (he moved up a position last month!)
Jack Sock: his super powerful forehand (yes, him too!), combined with his showmanship, make him very popular among tennis fans. He is currently ranked No.8 in the world, so we’re in for a treat!
Lastly, we would like to applaud the effort made to put on a tournament of this quality at very affordable prices (from €15 to 55, depending on the category). By the way, if you haven’t booked yet, it’s high time you did so!!! Book here…
