Vacances de la Toussaint (All Saints' Holiday)

The much awaited Vacances de la Toussaint (All Saints' Holiday) has arrived! This is a time when people in France take a break from the busy pace of everyday life to enjoy time with their kids.

Take a stroll along Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse and visit its funfair Vogue des Marrons – for hot chocolates and merry-go-round rides in the warm autumn sun. Nearby is the Maison des Canuts, where you can learn all about Lyon’s famous silk industry.

Take the metro line A to visit Mini World, for an immersion in the  Star Wars saga. If you’re a fan of Lego, head to La Confluence for the exhibition  Ma région en briques LEGO where Lego models of iconic local landmarks are being displayed!

At the Planetarium, the exhibition  La Terre vue de l’espace (My planet from space)... offers a chance to see our planet as Thomas Pesquet, of the European Astronaut Corps, has been lucky enough to see it. At the Musée Cinéma et Miniature, you can discover Lyon through scale models and learn about cinema special effects.

In terms of guided tours, why not see the city’s essential sites with a one-hour tuk-tuk ride (it’s not tiring, it’s fun and it’s not too long for kids!) 

If you are fond of circuses, the  Medrano circus troupe is currently at Quai Perrache, performing a programme of magical numbers for kids and adults alike.
