Musée des Tissus
34 rue de la Charité - 69002 Lyon 2ème
Textile Museum tribute to Vivienne Westwood for a first french monography from September 10, 2020 to January 17, 2021.
Fashion is a constantly evolving conversation and Lyon is not a city to lose the thread. In 2019, it welcomed an exhibition on Yves Saint-Laurent and is continuing in the same vein in 2020 with Vivienne Westwood’s first monographic exhibition. We have the Musée des Tissus to thank for this important cultural event, once again, which is definitely one for your diaries.
A major contributor to punk fashion and creator of nonconformist, colourful and sometimes eccentric collections, Vivienne Westwood may be less controversial now, but she remains highly engaged.
The models exhibited, from the private collection of Lee Price, are presented alongside several works belonging to the museum, including a sixteenth-century doublet with gold thread! Modernity and treasures from the past resonate together, as if to recall that revolutions in fashion never completely turn their back on tradition.
Virginie comes from Corsica. "We can't all be born in Lyon…" as they say. But our lovely city is now under her skin (although her beloved island remains firmly anchored in her heart).
