The Music of Couperin(s), Rameau and Pancrace Royer
To mark the four hundredth anniversary of Louis Couperin's birth, Jean Rondeau immerses himself in the musician's complete works. Through his Suites, in which baroque dance is at its height, and a few unmeasured Preludes (irregular, therefore perfect for the Trinité), Jean Rondeau pays tribute to the musician, accompanying him with other works by his no less famous nephew François Couperin, the genial Jean-Philippe Rameau and the moose-like Pancrace Royer, who in his “Avis à l'intention des interprètes” wrote: "As for the execution, I defer to the taste of those who will do me the honor of playing them. For good taste, we can trust Jean Rondeau, definitely one of the finest harpsichordists of his time.
