Philip Glass's first masterpiece
Music with Changing Parts is one of the founding works of minimalist music. It certainly is Philip Glass' most radical and immersive work. Composed in 1970 for his own New York ensemble, it is constructed in the form of an open score, which allows for certain interpretative liberties, both in terms of instrument distribution and duration. Hypnotic, atmospheric and rarely performed, this piece has exerted a decisive influence on the careers of many musicians, starting with Brian Eno and David Bowie.
