An ice cream parlour handed down from father to son and father to daughters since 1899. René Nardone Glacier has a wide selection of ice creams to suit all tastes!
At the beginning of the twentieth century, Loretto Nardone moved to Lyon where his son Antonio succeeded him and opened his shop 'Trianon Glacier' in 1929, at the current location. Ice creams were not only sold at the shop however: some people in Lyon can still remember when Antonio and his wife Béatrice set up shop on Place Bellecour with their "stand on wheels".
This family-run business was built on the quality of its ice cream, to meet the high expectations of locals.
The years passed and it was the turn of Antonio's son, René and his wife Michèle to take the reins. While never compromising on the quality of the ingredients used to make their ice creams, the shop's constant search for new trends and innovations further strengthened its reputation.
At the beginning of the 1970s, the business was developed to expand its reputation throughout Lyon and the surrounding area.
In 1980, the shop was renamed René Nardone Glacier. More changes came with the opening of two tasting rooms, expansion of the terrace and the arrival of many new flavours. The choice grew from a dozen to 40 and then 63 flavours, now permanently available for sale.
René Nardone established itself as the ice-cream maker in Lyon.
However, the family story didn't end there: for the past dozen years, René's daughters, Armelle and Béatrice (as well as her husband Gilbert), have run the business and are keeping the tradition alive with the same aim of customer satisfaction.
