Biennale Musiques en Scène
With thirty or so events, the theme for 2018 is ‘Borderline States’. Michaël Lévinas is this year’s guest composer.
The Lyon Auditorium and the Biennale are joining forces to create an extraordinary weekend, from the 2nd to the 4th of March 2018, with events, creations, orchestra concerts, sonic performances and more.
Three days packed with music, performances and sonic experiences, to push back the boundaries in all their forms, facets and meanings: sensory, rational, emotional and, of course, artistic, which the artists themselves never cease to ignore.
A sound-saturated weekend to dive into an almost altered state.
Friday 2nd of March, 8 pm: La voix humaine (The Human Voice)
Saturday 3rd of March, 2 pm and 5 pm: Blind
2 pm and 5 pm: Hurdy Gurdy #MYST
3 p.m.: Liszt et Beethoven revisités (Liszt and Beethoven revisited). From Franz Liszt revisited and interpreted by Michaël Levinas, to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony deconsecrated “online” by Bernard Cavanna, in ‘Geek Bagatelles’ for orchestra and smartphone choir, the Orchestre de Picardie views classics through the lens of contemporary composition and innovation.
5 pm: Airmachine
6 pm: Virtual Rhizome‘Virtual Rhizome’ has been composed for two smartphones and constructs virtual architecture that evolves into a labyrinth of sound, skilfully produced and articulated by soloist Jean Geoffroy. It is a creative exploration of new instruments that are now within everyone’s reach.
8 pm: Éteignez les lumières (Turn off the lights)With all the lights off, close your eyes, breathe deeply and meditate as you are transported by the subtle compositions of Toru Takemitsu and Morton Feldman. It is a gentle experience, like a bridge between the conscious and unconscious.
Sunday 4th of March, 11 am: Vent de folie (Moment of madness)
4 pm and 7 pm: Blind
5 pm: Hurdy Gurdy #MYST
6 pm: The Kingdom of Sound
Laetitia is a real ray of sunshine. Needless to say, there's no chance of getting bored when working by her side! Whether she's cheerful or glum, she's wont to burst into song, with tunes that tend to stick in your mind all day. Well where's the fun in a non-catchy song?
