Why eight days?
It's all due to a clever and blessed alignment of the planets (and public holidays). From the 6th to the 13th May, Lyon is once again all set to become the privileged setting for indie and electronic music. As for its programme, the organisers have been very hush-hush, releasing only scraps of information concerning in particular the daytime sessions (NS Days) of this edition. No less than four trailblazers have been brought together, each to concoct their very own first-rate programme: the brilliant English musician Four Tet, the priestess of French techno Jennifer Cardini, her British counterpart Paula Temple and Daniel Avery. More modern music with jazzman Kamasi Washington who'll be giving a special concert at the Lyon Auditorium on the 8th of May. This amazing American musician is the new reference in terms of futuristic swing: respectful of the Holy Scriptures of jazz, yet constantly in search of new forms. Nuits Sonores has also given the city of Amsterdam carte blanche to show that its fatherland is far more than just a flat expanse full of tulips and cigarettes that make you giggle.

As for the venues, NS2018 will be making a number of allusions to its heroic past by returning to La Piscine du Rhône, now known as the Tony Bertrand Nautical Centre (those who attended the first gigs will get goose bumps, and newcomers won't be left in the dark for much longer), as well as La Sucrière and the legendary Le Transbordeur in Villeurbanne. 

From the 9th to the 12th of May, Nuits Sonores promises to be extremely lively. The 1st night will culminate with a live performance by the fantastic Rone, as well as hip-hop from the Dutch lowlands with the excellent Caballero & JeanJass, who'll be presenting their smoking hot project High & Fines Herbes. As usual, the 2nd night, also known as the "Electronic Circuit", will be an incredible marathon that will be held across the entire city and its surrounding neighbourhood: La Maison Mère, Le Petit Salon, Ninkasi, Sonic, the legendary Ambassade night club, etc. The 3rd night will vibe to the beat of house music, with French musical artist Folamour, and American pioneers Kerri Chandler and Jeremy Underground. And finally, Nuits Sonores will end in triumph with (in no particular order) the American rapper Action Bronson, who's as good on the mic as he is in the kitchen, the dark and stormy The Hacker, the crazy Camion Bazar, and our local Voilààà Soundsystem. Lots of great stuff to listen to!
