Marseille - Atlético de Madrid
On Wednesday the 16th of May 2018, the Groupama Stadium will be hosting the Europa League final. And the atmosphere will be truly electric!
As the younger sibling of the great Champions League, the Europa League is pulling out all the stops, with all eyes on the great final that will be held at the Groupama Stadium.
Pending the final verdict, make the most of this opportunity to admire the Europa League trophy presented every day in the courtyard of the Musées Gadagne in Vieux-Lyon (during opening hours), until the 15th of May.
Don't miss the Europa League Village on the 15th and 16th of May in Place Bellecour. On stage, there will be four up-and-coming local artists, dancers and musicians intent on making this a wonderfully festive occasion!
If you're here for the final, and have a day to spend visiting Lyon…
Here is our advice for your first discovery tour of the city
Before setting out, pay a visit to our LyonCityExperts at the Tourist Office pavilion in Place Bellecour for customised advice on how to see the city, and to collect a free map. We're open from 9 am to 6 pm, non-stop.
In the morning: Take the cable car to Saint-Just (from the Vieux-Lyon metro station) and alight at the Minimes stop to discover Lyon's two Roman theatres (free of charge). Walk up through the theatre grounds all the way to the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, a famous landmark in Lyon. Don't miss the panoramic view of Lyon to the left of the basilica.
You'll even get to see the white roof of the stadium between the two tallest buildings opposite you!
Walk on down through the Rosary Garden below the basilica for some lovely views and green open spaces in the heart of the city. Welcome to Vieux-Lyon at the bottom of the hill, one of the loveliest major Renaissance districts in Europe.
Lunch: Check out the city's gastronomy in one of Lyon's approved Bouchons, where a convivial and authentic atmosphere is guaranteed!
In the afternoon: Discover the Renaissance alleyways in Vieux-Lyon and stroll through the traboules. These passageways are typical to Lyon and designed to allow you to go from one street to another. To find them, grab a free map at the Tourist Office! Make the most of the great atmospheres in bars and restaurants before crossing the Saône via Pont La Feuillée, a bridge that will take you to Place des Terreaux. This must-see square is surrounded by beautiful monuments, the town hall and Fine Arts Museum in particular: the ideal place to enjoy a drink at one of the terraces overlooking the square!

Welcome to Lyon!
Eléonore is the romantic member of the team! Rumour has it that she knows her classics better than anyone else, and if you want to strike up a conversation with her, just mention Jane Austen, and you'll be away!
