This 15th edition is exploring new horizons!
The Biennale is leaving the familiarity of La Sucrière for the huge space of the former Fagor factory. This time, the event will be curated by a collective of seven specialists from the Palais de Tokyo.
The Biennale is inviting nature, including plants, animals and even bacteria, as well as related human activities, including production, distribution and consumption, going so far as to question our relationship with the spirit of the world and our place in the universe. Some 50 artists, of all ages and from various backgrounds, will imagine and create their works on-site, to immerse themselves in the places and their history.
This international gathering will take place at various locations in the urban area, with various artistic events, including Veduta and Résonance.
Echoing Lyon’s geography, the title of the 15th Lyon Contemporary Art Biennale is Where Water Comes Together with Other Water, taken from a Raymond Carver poem. For the first time, in addition to the Museum of Contemporary Art (macLYON) and many associate venues, the Biennale is being held in the deserted halls of the former Fagor factory, in the heart of the Gerland district.
This 15th edition of the Lyon Contemporary Art Biennale is devised as an ecosystem at the intersection of biological, economic and cosmogonic landscapes.
It bears witness to the shifting relationships between human beings, other living species,
the mineral kingdom, technological artefacts and the stories that unite them.

Opening times
> From Tuesday to friday 11 am to 6 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 11 am to 7 pm.
> Late opening at Usines Fagor for the first weekend, on Saturday 21 September 2019, from 11 am to 11 pm and on Sunday 22 September 2019 from 10 am to 8 pm.
Late Friday openings until 10 pm: 27 September, 11 October, 15 November and 13 December 2019.
> Exceptional closures at 5 pm on 24 and 31 December, and closure of the exhibitions on 25 December 2019 and 1 January 2020.

Isabelle, our editor born and bred in Lyon! She was born in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon in fact, studied in Lyon and now lives here. Territorial? Absolutely not! She loves travelling, widening her horizons, meeting new people and enjoys a change of scenery (without snow, if possible). Isabelle is curious and a people person, two attributes that often go hand in hand! Her favourite colour is green and her motto "a day without laughter is a day wasted!"
