This year, we will enjoy spring punctuated by weekly events staged until the first day of summer, to celebrate the eagerly awaited re-opening of the Hôtel-Dieu, after 4 years of work. Lyon’s residents feel close to this key building in the city, either because they have worked there, been cared for there or were born there!

The 27th of April marks the launch of an original festival, which will allow everyone to familiarise themselves with the site and to make it a genuine place for living and sharing unforgettable experiences – wellbeing, culture, art and leisure. The scene is set!

On the programme and not to be missed:

  • Two exhibitions : "Portraits d’une transformation" (Portraits of a Transformation), following the step-by-step transformation of the site, and a historical retrospective of the Hôtel-Dieu.
  • Numerous free tours (in French) to explore this fascinating, vast and architecturally beautiful site and to delve into its history, from its construction to the present day. The tours will be provided by the Guides from ONLYLYON Tourist Office and Convention Bureau. Please register at: www.grand-hotel-dieu.com/actualites/festival2018.
  • Adult workshops on wellbeing, dance, etc…
  • Workshops and storytelling for children and families every Wednesday: street art, gardening, cooking, treasure hunts, games and surprises..
  • Shows/Performances: a baroque procession on the 11th of June by the Concert de l’Hostel-Dieu and dance performances on the 15th of June by Axelle Lagier and Julien Gaillac.

Isabelle, our editor born and bred in Lyon! She was born in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon in fact, studied in Lyon and now lives here. Territorial? Absolutely not! She loves travelling, widening her horizons, meeting new people and enjoys a change of scenery (without snow, if possible). Isabelle is curious and a people person, two attributes that often go hand in hand! Her favourite colour is green and her motto "a day without laughter is a day wasted!"
