Cinéma Institut Lumière - Le Hangar
25 rue du 1er Film - 69008 Lyon 8ème
From 27 February to 2 March, sport will be the central theme at the 6th Sport, Literature and Film Festival.
So which do you prefer, sport, film or literature? What if I said that you don’t have to choose!
The Institut Lumière festival, dedicated to sport and culture, returns with the same objectives: to examine the close links between sport, sports literature, films - fiction and documentaries- and above all, to share its love for sport.
Following Eric Cantona, Raymond Poulidor and Bernard Hinault, the festival will be welcoming some prestigious guests: Ada Hegerberg, the first winner of the women’s Ballon d’Or, Eddy Merckx, five-time winner of the Tour de France and Olivier Dacourt, winner of the Confederations Cup (French Team) and Italian champion (Inter Milan).
Are you an Olympique Lyonnais fan? Then make sure you seen the "Nous sommes les Lyonnais!” photography exhibition which retraces the team’s history from 1950 to 1990. Head for the Galeries Cinéma 1 and 2.
Or do you prefer books? The pop-up sports bookshop presents a full range of sports literature, from classics to new works, from fiction to magazines and photography books with, as an added bonus, the presence of the authors.
Want to watch a movie? See, among many others, the new documentary by Olivier Dacourt and Marc Savourel, Je ne suis pas un singe (“I am not a monkey”), about racism in football (in the presence of the directors), Breaking Away by Peter Yates, which won the Oscar for best original screenplay (1979), Senna, a sports documentary masterpiece, by Asif Kapadia (in the presence of the director), and a preview of Crossing Beyond, the official film for the North Korean Olympic Games! Full programme of screenings...
An event to not to be missed! More information about the festival here.
Mélina joined our gang this summer, and we're all delighted! She's from the Vendée on the west coast of France, and her eyes are as blue as the ocean that laps its shores. In fact her kind and mischievous eyes are the first thing you notice about her, and you soon realise that despite her gentle and even quite discrete nature lies a boundless source of energy!
