Sound, rap, movement and sensations...

From the 8th of March to the 7th of July 2019, not one, but four exhibitions await you at MacLYON!

We are promised an event ‘that's going to make some noise!’, quite literally, since the first floor of the contemporary art museum is occupied by sound works from its collection, including Rainforest by David Tudor, one of the museum's recent acquisitions. A total of 17 artists are featured, exploring worlds where music, sound, dance, visual arts and plastic arts come together. An amazing, fun and exciting experience.

On the second floor, Maxwell Alexandre, a young, up-and-coming Brazilian artist on a one-month residency in Lyon, presents his large paintings inspired by design, street art and rap. With fantastic energy, he paints a picture of his time and his country, with its social, cultural and political issues.

Storytelling is a new kind of exhibition built on a residency for seven young artists who, in turn, add to the work of their predecessor, guided by the clues they leave. To be explored in different stages in order to follow the evolution of the creative process.

Lastly, Tal Isaac Hadad presents his first monographic exhibition in France: Regarder Respirer (Breathing Pictures). This is a surprising work of art, which is at once experiential, plastic, sonic and even therapeutic. Amazing performances involve singers, masseurs, and transformed pianos, in an exhibition that brings about sometimes unsuspected sensory emotions.

Are you ready for new artistic and sensory experiences?

Entrance to the museum and its exhibitions is free with the Lyon City Card

Isabelle

Isabelle, our editor born and bred in Lyon! She was born in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon in fact, studied in Lyon and now lives here. Territorial? Absolutely not! She loves travelling, widening her horizons, meeting new people and enjoys a change of scenery (without snow, if possible). Isabelle is curious and a people person, two attributes that often go hand in hand! Her favourite colour is green and her motto "a day without laughter is a day wasted!"
