Those who have yet to discover the charms of ‘chanson française’ should not miss this local festival dedicated to the art form, from the 23rd to the 30th of March.
‘Chanson française’ is alive and well! Promoting the genre since 2008, the festival Chants de Mars is held in music venues around Greater Lyon (including Le Transbordeur in Villeurbanne, L'Épicerie Moderne in Feyzin, Bizarre in Vénissieux, Comédie Odéon, Auditorium, Marché Gare and the MJC youth centres of Vieux Lyon, Rancy and Confluence).
The 2019 edition promises to be huge.
In addition to the many concerts at MJC youth centres, informal dances and events for younger audiences, four dates stand out:
Wednesday 27th: L'Épicerie Moderne welcomes the elegant rock 'n' roll of the trio Radio Elvis, who have notched up a series of public and critical awards, as well as sold-out tours.
Thursday 28th: Clara Luciani graces Le Transbordeur with her unique brand of cerebral and politically engaged pop.
Friday 29th: the festival ventures into the world of rap with the hip-pop of Oré, the electronica-tinged music of the duo of brothers Terrenoire, and French rapper and singer Charlie’s new project ‘Coeur’ sure to rouse her ‘Minouche’ fanbase.
Saturday 30th: At Salle Léo Ferré, discover the sensitive creativity of singer-songwriter Clarika, who switches brilliantly between humour and personal failures. One not to be missed.
