Sound and light at Le Sucre for the festive season
Christmas at Le Sucre is looking particularly “hotte” thanks to its Licht programme. We will be celebrating lights, hip-swaying rhythms, gay culture and techno. Occasionally all at the same time.
German-speakers understand perfectly well what “Licht” means. For those who learned Spanish at school, it means “light” (or “luz” depending on your level).
Did you know that the city of Lyon loves light? It has also possibly not escaped your notice that it even celebrates it, around the 8th December – it’s a tradition. Le Sucre, Lyon’s most iconic rooftop venue, forms part of this tradition, staging its own programme known as Licht. Le Sucre will glow with light thanks to a massive installation dressing the top of La Sucrière building and is promising a particularly “hotte” Christmas programme (did you get it? “Hotte” in French means Santa’s sack and “hot” in English means hip or trendy).
With music to warm the heart (on the 1st December with Club Méditerranéen, on the 14th December with the always amazing Sheitan Brothers at the turntables, or on the 15th December with the Black Atlantic Club where you can see the godfather of house, Manoo).
If you prefer the Fiesta to swaying rhythms, rest assured that the venue will be celebrating the Festival of Light properly over the course of a particularly busy weekend (with Juanita, Flares, Cora Novoa, etc.). Mark the 21st December on your calendar because Laurent Garnier will be in the house. Even though he has retained the relaxed attitude and charm of a young man, he embodies an entire era of electronic culture. A maestro with an amazing level of knowledge and unrivalled talent at the turntables.
The Licht programme comes to an end with a flourish with the Children Of The Drum featuring the outstanding Pablo Valentino on Saturday 29th December. And, the icing on the cake, a gay New Year’s Eve with Garçon Sauvage on the 31st December, lasting until the first dawn of 2019, when the light shines out.
