Are you ready for a fun and sporty weekend? Lyon Kayak is one of the essential sporting events of the autumn! In 2018, nearly 2300 people set off from Rochetaillée-sur-Saône for this superb journey across Lyon. Will you try the experience this year?
On the Saturday, you can go to the docks in the Confluence district to enjoy the many activities on offer throughout the day. Board a 10 to 12-seater boat from Ancient China and take on other teams for the Dragon Boat Festival. For the kids, introductory paddle sports classes (canoe and stand-up paddle) will be available during the afternoon. For those taking part in the next day’s race and river excursion, remember to pick up your number (from 2 to 7 pm).
Sunday is the big day! You have a choice between two routes: “Découverte 14 km” (14 km Discovery), which is accessible for all, and “Chrono 21 km” (21 km Time Trial), for veteran paddlers. You can enjoy the magnificent views of Lyon from the Saône as you go.
New in 2019: Lyon Family Kayak, a river excursion for families! It begins at noon from Mazaryk Bridge.
If water sports are not your cup of tea, it is still well worth going to watch the participants from the river banks: a sight to behold!
