Lugdunum, 176 CE. As the capital of Roman Gaul, and a major political, religious and trading centre, with links to the East in particular, the city grew into a lively, cosmopolitan hub. The Roman gods merged with other beliefs and superstitions. A small group, led by Pothinus and Irenaeus, attracted curiosity. Men and women of all backgrounds, including slaves and freedmen, the rich and poor, claimed allegiance to a certain Jesus. However, mistrust of the Christians gradually grew.
Set against the backdrop of Lyon’s distant past, the story of the secret and forbidden love between Lucius and Sarah is told…
With a 360-degree image, lighting, music, and hundreds of actors and extras in the cathedral, Damien Fontaine’s show creates a magical atmosphere. The sound and light installation, with its huge images and innovative special effects, offers a memorable experience.

Isabelle, our editor born and bred in Lyon! She was born in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon in fact, studied in Lyon and now lives here. Territorial? Absolutely not! She loves travelling, widening her horizons, meeting new people and enjoys a change of scenery (without snow, if possible). Isabelle is curious and a people person, two attributes that often go hand in hand! Her favourite colour is green and her motto "a day without laughter is a day wasted!"
