2020 winter holidays in Lyon
From the 22nd of February to the 9th of March 2020, children are off school! Holidays are the perfect time to organise visits and activities to keep your little ones busy.
You can switch between cultural, fun and educational activities, as well as walks and sports, because they need to let off steam from time to time!
Museum trips
Some museums provide fun booklets and activities that are great for children:
Lugdunum -Musée & théâtres romains (Lugdunum – Museum and Roman Theaters) has a children's area with games and costumes.

Exhibitions to broaden their horizons
To arouse children’s interest in the world and other people, there is the Musée des Confluences, but you could also visit the exhibition Genesis where artist Sebastiao Salgado pays tribute to the beauty and fragility of our planet through black and white photography, at La Sucrière, as well as the photography exhibition on Fourvière esplanade , - Éclairer les Transparences - on families from around the world that are helped by The Salvation Army.
Are your children uninterested in artworks despite your best efforts?
Try a gradual approach to pique their curiosity! You can combine a trip to the Groupama Stadium with a visit to the football team’s museum (OL Le Musée), or take them to see the Lego Harry Potter exhibition at MiniWorld Lyon.
Get cooking!
In Lyon, there are workshops in English to learn the art of pastry making.

You can make the most of the occasion to take them to the children’s area at the Cité Internationale de la gastronomie (International City of Gastronomy).

Exhilarating adventures!
City Aventure in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon is reopening on the 22nd of February, and France Aventures in Fourvière on the 29th of February, offering little Tarzans an opportunity to climb trees and leap off branches in total safety. A danger-free way to satisfy their thirst for adventure.
If the weather is being difficult, then try:
- the Vertical’Art in Saint-Priest,
- the Exalto leisure complex with its multi-trampolines, ninja course, laser game and various activities (while you take it easy in the relaxation area!)
- There is also a laser game at Megazone in Vaise. Great fun for kids!
If the weather is fine and you fancy getting some fresh air with the kids, head to Tête d’Or Park, the park at Gerland or Grand Parc Miribel Jonage. There are also many other parks to choose from here. Or, you can take a bike ride along the ViaRhôna cycle route.
Bonnes vacances !
Isabelle, our editor born and bred in Lyon! She was born in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon in fact, studied in Lyon and now lives here. Territorial? Absolutely not! She loves travelling, widening her horizons, meeting new people and enjoys a change of scenery (without snow, if possible). Isabelle is curious and a people person, two attributes that often go hand in hand! Her favourite colour is green and her motto "a day without laughter is a day wasted!"
