A year of essential bargain-hunting events!
As soon as the fine weather returns, second-hand markets and garage sales flourish, to the great delight of enthusiastic bargain hunters.
Here is our selection of the season’s essential events (from May to October), which are all about giving objects a second life or finding that elusive item you’ve been searching for!
MAY
Vide grenier Perrache-Confluence (Lyon 2ème)
From Place des Archives to the Confluence Shopping Centre, 350 vendors flock to Cours Charlemagne to display their many and varied wares.
JUNE
Brocante et vide-grenier de la Croix-Rousse by Solidarité Afrique (Lyon 1er et Lyon 4ème)
Around Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse, private sellers and bargain-hunters get together for a good cause: a flea market held to support the local association Solidarité Afrique.
Plaisir de chiner (Lyon 3ème et Lyon 7ème)
The major local second-hand market held along Avenue Jean-Jaurès and Avenue Maréchal de Saxe has already been going for more than twenty years. With more than 500 stallholders, there’s more than enough to keep you busy for a day!
Croix-Rousse en fête (Lyon 4ème)
Shopkeepers lay out their goods, independent designers exhibit their creations and private sellers tout unwanted possessions on Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse, coming together to create a fun-packed event.
Brocante du Vieux-Lyon (Lyon 5ème). In June and September.
In front of Saint-Jean Cathedral, 80 professional stallholders present beautiful objects and small furniture items steeped in history.
JULY
Le plus grand vide-greniers des Monts d'or
SEPTEMBER
Vide-grenier des pentes (Lyon 1er)
On the slopes of Croix-Rousse hill, which are pedestrianised for the occasion, 500 local residents present their stands and the treasures on sale.

Braderie de la Croix-Rousse (Lyon 1er et Lyon 4ème)
In addition to the clearance sales of the neighbourhood’s shops, flea market-lovers can enjoy the many stands held by private sellers on Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse.
Vide-grenier des dragons (Lyon 5ème)
In the heart of the Saint-Georges neighbourhood and along the banks of the Saône, you can browse the original objects, fashion accessories and clothes for sale in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
OCTOBER
Just a stone’s throw from the banks of the Rhône, the second-hand Chevreul market attracts some 5,000 visitors each year, for one of the last events of the season!
ALL YEAR ROUND
Bric a brac Notre-Dame des Sans Abris (Lyon 9ème)
Held all year round by volunteers of the association, this huge space, where you can find loads of different things, offers fantastic surprises and discoveries. This is a great place to come to buy or to donate possessions you no longer need to a good cause.
Emmaüs Parilly (Vénissieux)
Despite having the largest Emmaüs shop in Lyon and the surrounding area, the association has also opened two shops in Gratte-ciel (Villeurbanne) and on Rue de Créqui. Grab a bargain and support charity at the same time.
Eléonore is the romantic member of the team! Rumour has it that she knows her classics better than anyone else, and if you want to strike up a conversation with her, just mention Jane Austen, and you'll be away!
