When we are far from home, memories of food and smells of cooking immediately warm the heart and take us back to our origins for a moment. Could food be the best way to help people reunite with their roots? Could a kitchen be the most generous land of asylum? These are the ideas behind the food event ‘Refugee Food Festival'.

A fascinating project, between Lyon and Roanne. Select pieces.
On Thursday the 13th and Friday the 14th of June, Maison Troisgros will be opening up its kitchens to Afghan chef Sadia Hessabi, in the company of the two hosts, Michel and César.
On Friday the 21st of June, Albanian chef Armand Hasanpapaj will be taking over the kitchen of the Bistrot du Potager with Florian Rémont.
On Sunday the 23rd of June, the new foodcourt Heat will be welcoming tastes of the Sahara, with Aicha Mahamet, as well as Malaysia, with Shahirul Bin Ahmad Hanafiah, and Syria, with Ruba Khatib and Samer Fallaha, for a brunch full of flavours.

The 2019 edition of Refugee Food Festival promises other excellent meetings all over the world. The festival will be taking place almost at the same time in Paris, Marseille, Lille, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Rennes, Madrid, Bologna, Copenhagen, Brussels, London, Geneva, New York and Le Cap.

RFF is helping to change the way we see refugees, through food and its universal values of conviviality and generosity.
France's capital of gastronomy is welcoming the Refugee Food Festival: the menus of local partner establishments will be enriched with dishes imagined and prepared by refugee cooks, with “carte blanche invitations”, “four-handed menus”, brunch, lunch, dinner and more.
Lyon’s Refugee Food Festival team will be organising a range of original experiences and natural or surprising combinations, all unique, in order to showcase the skills of the guest chefs and the particularities of their cuisine, and to highlight our city's love of gastronomy.
