Eclectic and intergenerational
From the 1st of June to the 30th of July 2019, Nuits de Fourvière will come to the ancient theatres of Fourvière, as well as the Opera House, Salle Molière and other venues further afield, such as Parc de Parilly and Domaine de Lacroix-Laval. Performing arts on the bill!
The folk of Lyon are particularly fond of this festival because of its fantastic location, incredible ambiance and the amazing variety of shows, including music, dance, circus and theatre, which are often combined to produce totally original performances. With young talent and huge names, local and international artists, various tastes and generations are brought together each year in a fun, vibrant atmosphere.
Shows not to be missed this year:
The grand opening show is an adaptation of the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, directed by Robert Wilson, and featuring the folk duo CocoRosie. A French premiere, suitable for all ages. From the 1st to the 3rd of June.
Another creation, Requiem Mozart is a meeting between a powerful, emotionally-charged work, and eight dancers choreographed by Yoann Bourgeois, a dancer and circus performer. In this dizzying performance, the dancers’ bodies fall, disappear and reappear, while the music of Mozart is played by soloists, the choir Accentus and the Insula Orchestra, conducted by Laurence Equilbey. On the 10th and 11th of June.
Another one not to be missed, Pure Dance by Natalia Osipova, a star dancer trained at the Bolshoi, and later the American Ballet Theatre in New York and the Royal Ballet in London. Cirque Eloize is celebrating its 25th anniversary and presents Hotel, its latest creation and a French premiere, bringing together 12 acrobats and musicians in a breathtaking show. From the 17th to the 22nd of June.
