The Magic Wands Festival

Since 2016, the New Franco-Chinese Institute has been introducing the richness of Chinese gastronomy to the residents of Lyon.

Not quite sure what this cuisine entails? Want to break away from the fried rice/spring roll/Peking duck cliché? Well, you’re in luck! No need to travel 8000 kilometres - the flavours of China are being brought right to your doorstep!

Throughout the course of the festival, Chinese Food Week will entice your appetite. 50 restaurants offer you a true gastronomic journey through China, with one or more traditional dishes with a twist. Note: each geographical sector in Lyon will pay homage to a different Chinese region!

From September 25 to 29, authenticity is taken one step further. Seven Chinese guest chefs will share their culinary expertise and exotic flavours throughout seven establishments in Lyon. Visit La Table Wei, Café Terroir, Les Apothicaires, Café Arsène, Konditori, Ravigote and Kitchen Café.

September 28th is a day of festivities at the New Franco-Chinese Institute, promising a gourmet, family-friendly and convivial experience! Introduction to Chinese tea, cooking demonstrations by a guest chef, and a pop-up shop. A barbecue and Chinese DJ set will conclude the day's event.

On 29 September, a cooking competition will be held between enthusiasts who will have "seasonal cuisine with tea" as their theme.
