Musée des Confluences
86 quai Perrache - 69002 Lyon 2ème
From the 7th of February 2020 to the 4th of April 2021, the Musée des Confluences will be taking us back to our origins.
It is through the remains of animals long gone, such as bones, teeth, horns or antlers, that we are able to tell the story of life…
This exhibition at the Musée des Confluences is based on scientific research and the work of biologists and zooarchaeologists. These researchers study animal remains found during digs in order to gather information such as age, sex and the presence of diseases. They compare, analyse, identify and establish physical or genetic relationships between species. The exhibition offers a chance to learn about the work of researchers and the evolution of species.
However, as always, the Musée des Confluences expands the scope to the human sciences, in order to explore how people have used bones all the way back to prehistory, as weapons, tools, art objects, jewellery, and even musical instruments. It looks at their symbolic and sacred character, for physical and spiritual healing, as well as a common representation of death, particularly during the Middle Ages…
This fascinating exhibition will take visitors on a journey through the continents, sciences, beliefs and history.
Entrance to the Musée des Confluences and its exhibitions is included in the Lyon City Card.
Isabelle, our editor born and bred in Lyon! She was born in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon in fact, studied in Lyon and now lives here. Territorial? Absolutely not! She loves travelling, widening her horizons, meeting new people and enjoys a change of scenery (without snow, if possible). Isabelle is curious and a people person, two attributes that often go hand in hand! Her favourite colour is green and her motto "a day without laughter is a day wasted!"
