A selection of shops in Lyon to freshen up your interior

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been spending a lot of time at home of late... And I’ve developed a strong urge to entirely redo my interior! And I’m certainly not alone in wanting a change of scenery. Forget about the Swedish giant; instead, try my little selection of superb local shops.

Dadashop: minimalist, playful décor

Created by Inès and Pascale, a mother and daughter team, Dadashop is a fun and original concept store, which is impossible to leave empty-handed (that’s right, impossible).
You will find brand-named decorative objects and furniture, creations by young designers, plants, stationery and a children’s corner that will make you want to be a kid again (or have more children).
The inspiration is minimalist, with just the right amount of quirkiness.
Things I might buy here: a “hairy legs” ceramic vase by Marie Chanteur or a Holztiger wooden figurine for my son.
Le Dadashop, 13 rue du Griffon, Lyon 1er

Maison Franc: elegant anti-conformism

A tiny shop tucked away on Rue Chavanne, Maison Franc is definitely worth going out of your way for. Here, you won’t find that vase you’ve seen in most of your friends’ homes (via video chat!) or the ceiling light that’s all over Instagram. At Maison Franc, each object is carefully chosen by the sister and brother duo Mélanie and Thomas.
The shop reflects a love of travel (from Scottish tartan to Hotel Costes scented candles) and elegant anti-conformism. It is an inspiring experience.
Things I might buy here:  a goat-egg cup or crockery by Jars Céramistes.

Brocante Florence Bouvier: linen heaven

A long-time antique dealer at Les Puces du Canal flea market, Florence Bouvier recently opened a beautiful shop on Rue Auguste Comte. There you will find her collection of household linen, which she makes herself using carefully selected old linen, as well as a range of vintage objects.
The atmosphere is very pleasantly bohemian!
Things I might buy here:  a linen cushion with an embroidered golden star.

Blitz : a beautiful bazaar

Right next to Place Sathonay, Blitz is an original concept store, art gallery and “bazaar”, to borrow the word used by the owner, David Bolito. This former artistic director searches tirelessly for beautiful, colourful objects and furniture, with a unique arty twist, which he presents in his shop.
New items are tastefully displayed alongside second-hand objects.
Things I might buy here:  a carafe-fish by Cerámica Solimene or garden furniture by Petite Friture.
Blitz, 4 rue Louis Vitet, Lyon 1

Les Puces du Canal: unearth that perfect object

You need to get up early to go to Les Puces du Canal, but the effort is well worth it! With stall holders and some 200 dealers, you can find the most improbable objects and wonders of vintage design.
Personally, I always pop into Little Broc, where you will find a selection of vintage decorative items and furniture for children, tastefully selected by Hélène.
Things I might buy here:  you never know what you will leave “Les Puces” with, which is its charm.

Marie

Do you know Saillans? It was in this charming spot - nestled on the banks of the Drôme River - that Marie was born. Starting out in this village, which in the 19th century played its part in the Lyon region’s silk manufacturing boom, Marie’s path has led her step by step (or should that be stitch by stich?) to her current role.
