Chakâm, named after an ancient Persian poetic form, blends the radiant târ of Sogol Mirzaei (Iran) with the qanûn of Christine Zayed (Palestine), carried by the profound viola da gamba of Marie-Suzanne de Loye (France). Between repertoire pieces, personal compositions and improvisations, these three musicians reveal an intense language in which singing sometimes meets the intoxicating dialogue of strings. Their music is at a crossroads, between nostalgia for a land left too soon, idealization of an faded memory of a far-away land, but also the ceaseless vitality of discovery and renewal.
