An infinite and daring space for creation, Karavel presents hip-hop dance in all its radiance on the Lyon stage: renowned companies rub shoulders with up-and-coming ones in a veritable creative explosion, while shows and battles renew dance performance with an communicative energy.

This year, Karavel is opening its 18th edition to the SUBS by entrusting the reins of this exceptional evening to the Lyon-based company Relevant. For a whole month, Karavel will be hosting a succession of artists: loyal companies such as Mazelfreten, Accrorap and Art Move Concept return with their latest creations, committed choreographers such as Marina Gomes and Abderzak Houmi question our consciences, and young authors testify to the aspirations of their generation. Choreographer Nacim Battou has been given carte blanche with Notre dernière nuit, an original immersive project that changes the relationship between artists and audiences.

A highlight of this 18th edition, the Malacca project celebrates its tenth anniversary by inviting all the choreographers who have taken part in this artistic adventure. Created at Karavel, this unusual event has grown with each edition of the festival, symbolising the effervescence that takes place throughout the region every autumn, thanks to a loyal network of 40 partner organisations.
