For a picnic or walk in the country with stunning panoramic views, head to the scenic viewpoints of Mont-Thou and Mont-Cindre in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or. Lastly, in Tour-de-Salvigny, the Domaine de Lacroix-Laval boasts 115 hectares of meadows, valleys, ponds and woods, covering three communes.
Discover the beautiful heritage of the villages of the Ouest-Nord
In addition to their cabornes (small dry-stone huts) and wash houses, the communes in the area are home to remarkable churches, chapels and buildings. A little gem in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or, the chapel of the Hermitage of Mont-Cindre, with its amazing gardens and stunning views, is well worth a visit. In Saint-Didier-au-Mont-d’Or, the chapel of Saint-Fortunat is also worth going out of your way to see.
In Lissieu, make a stop to visit the beautiful church of Saint-Christophe and the restored towers of the former medieval castle.
Lastly, in Dardilly, the house where Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney (the patron saint of parish priests), was born, and the church Saint-Jean-Marie Vianney, offer a chance to learn about this local figure.
