Lumière ! The invention of the cinema
From the 13th June 2017 to the 25th February 2018
From the 15th of April 2017 to the 13th of April 2018, at the Musée des Confluences.
Here is a subject that is as inexhaustible as it is fascinating to explore, with an exhibition that takes you on a journey through history, nature, culture and the science of poisons.
Poison plays an ambiguous role: while some use it to kill, others use it to heal or provide relief … It is all a matter of dosage and intentions.
The Musée des Confluences likes to combine and contrast various fields of knowledge, an approach that suits this subject particularly well! Various facets, whether artistic, scientific, ethnographical or historical, are examined and compared in order to reveal the uses of poison throughout history, civilisations, nature or pharmacology.
As you make your way through the exhibition, do not be surprised if you come across a few venomous or toxic animals, including tarantulas, black widows, frogs, jellyfish, vipers and snakes, (rest assured, they are safely kept in aquariums or vivariums!). You can also get to know a few famous poisoners who have left their mark on history!
Various screens and interactive activities offer a fun way for all to explore this fascinating world.
We wholeheartedly recommend it!
Entrance to the Musée des Confluences is included in the Lyon City Card
Isabelle, our editor born and bred in Lyon! She was born in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon in fact, studied in Lyon and now lives here. Territorial? Absolutely not! She loves travelling, widening her horizons, meeting new people and enjoys a change of scenery (without snow, if possible). Isabelle is curious and a people person, two attributes that often go hand in hand! Her favourite colour is green and her motto "a day without laughter is a day wasted!"
