BIG’s fourth edition is to be one of sharing, as a tribute to Paul Bocuse. Running alongside the SIRHA show (the world hospitality and food service event), the organisers want to make the festival open to all, with the focus on gastronomy, a subject that is dear to the heart of the people of Lyon.

For those in a festive mood, Festiv’Halles will be held at the indoor food market Halles de Lyon-Paul Bocuse on the 28th of January, where you can taste the local food on offer in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with music from the Jazz à Vienne music festival.

If you like soup, you’re in for a treat with two events: Soupe en Scène (24-26 January) and Distribution de la soupe de Monsieur Paul (26-30 January). In addition to delighting locals, the organisers will donate profits to the charities ‘Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri’ and ‘Petits Frères des Pauvres’ respectively.
Soupe en Scène will also feature musical entertainment with French stars of the 1980s and young talent, offering something to warm your body and soul this winter.

Other things to see include two fascinating exhibitions: photos from the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie – World Pastry Cup and a tribute to Paul Bocuse. You can also visit partner shops in the Presqu’île district, where Sébastien Bouillet’s confectionery awaits gourmets on the 29th of January.

BIG still has plenty of tasty surprises up its sleeve, so stay tuned to discover all of the events to be held over the course of the week.

Mathilde

Always smiling, Mathilde comes to us from Franche-Comté (as her lilting accent attests). Besides, she is mad about Franche-Comté cheeses: comté, cancoillotte, mont d’or... And all things comestible, for that matter (she’s a real foodie!). Her secret to staying slim? Physical activity. She loves running along the banks of the Saône, near her home. Her motto? Run more to eat more!
